Runtrip Wellness Boom: How to Enjoy a Healthy Running Journey with Korea Ginseng.

 Hello, this is GINWORLDART.

Have you recently heard people talk about “running while traveling”? The term Runtrip may no longer sound unfamiliar.

Runtrip, a lifestyle trend where you run, explore, record, and share your travel experiences, is now embraced by people of all ages as a healthy and meaningful way to enjoy life.

Today, we’ll introduce you to different types of Runtrip experiences, highlight some unique events in Korea, and show you how to combine it with a smart ginseng wellness routine.

1. What Is Runtrip?

Runtrip is a blend of “Run” and “Trip”, literally meaning to travel by running.

At first glance, it seems contradictory to mix high-speed running with the slow pace of travel.

But surprisingly, this combination has created a new trend that continues to gain popularity.

According to a three-year analysis by Korea Tourism Data Lab, mentions of the keyword “Runtrip” increased by an astonishing 598%, evolving beyond exercise into a new form of travel that encompasses local exploration, healing, and social bonding.

* New Normal: A newly emerging standard or lifestyle trend resulting from social or cultural change.

2. Four Types of Runtrip Travelers.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, Runtrip participants, also known as Runtrippers, generally fall into four categories

  • Challenge Type: Travelers who set clear goals like personal records, medal collections, or marathon completions.

  • Escape Type: Those who prioritize memories over records, and experiences over competition. Ideal for beginners looking to break free from routine.

  • Networking Type: Groups who value running with others—friends, family, clubs, or fandom communities—for deeper social connections.

  • Snapshot Type: Participants who view running as a means to capture aesthetically pleasing photos or share meaningful moments on social media.

▶ These types reflect how Runtrip is more than physical activity; it’s an emotional, healing, and relationship-centered cultural trend.

3. Unique Runtrip Events in Korea – A Perfect Blend of Fun and Health.

* Suyuk Run – “Run, Eat Pork, and Drink Makgeolli!”

This is one of the signature Runtrip events in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. Known for offering hearty suyuk (boiled pork) and makgeolli (Korean rice wine) to all participants—regardless of whether they finish the race or not—this event has become a viral hit online.

Hosted by the Geumcheon-gu Sports Council and supported by the district office, this event features two main routes: a 5km course starting from Anyangcheon Square and a 10km course looping around Guro-gu.

The registration sold out quickly, proving the massive popularity of this “fun-run-meets-food” format.

* Baemin Shopping Open Run – “Run to Win Your Shopping!”

Organized by Baemin (Woowa Brothers), this event creatively combines grocery shopping and running.

Participants fill a shopping cart at the “Baemin Mart” pop-up zone and run 5km—whatever they carry to the finish line is theirs to keep.

Over 60,000 products from 20+ brands are available, and all proceeds go to local child welfare centers.

The event also includes photo booths, best-dressed prizes, and even a live performance by singer 10CM—highlighting its mix of fun, fitness, and social impact.

* Baby Stroller Run – “Family Running for a Meaningful Cause”

The 2025 Seoul Baby Stroller Run is a family-friendly Runtrip event inspired by singer Sean. More than 1,000 families joined to run or walk the 5km course through Gwanghwamun and Cheonggyecheon, raising awareness for Korea’s low birthrate and promoting family bonding.

Despite rainy weather, the event drew diverse participants, including multicultural families and grandparents running with their grandchildren—showcasing Runtrip as an inclusive and heartwarming experience.

4. Runtrip Meets Ginseng – The Perfect Wellness Routine.

If Runtrip is about balancing body and soul through movement and exploration, Korean ginseng is the ideal partner for recovery and wellness after a long run.

Ginsenosides, the key active compounds in Korean ginseng, are known to support immune function, reduce fatigue, improve blood circulation, and offer antioxidant benefits—making them ideal for post-run recovery.

However, it’s important not to consume ginseng immediately after intense exercise. During this time, your stomach is sensitive, and body temperature is elevated. Ingesting concentrated ginseng at this moment may cause discomfort.

We recommend waiting 30–60 minutes after your run, rehydrating first, and then consuming ginseng in a gentle form.

Recommended Ginseng Forms for Runners

  • Ginseng Jeonggwa (Sliced with Honey): Easy to digest and mildly sweet, great as a light snack after your run.

  • Pill or Capsule Form: Convenient to carry, offers measured doses, and is less harsh on the stomach—ideal for beginners and travelers.

  • Concentrated Extracts: Potent recovery boosters, best taken after meals or before bedtime on days of intense physical exertion.
